    Das ergibt noch etwas mehr Sinn. In Deutschland muss sich ja niemand für die Unterstützung von Israel rechtfertigen, aber bei den Rechten in den USA gibt es auch einen großen Block, der die Vorzugsbehandlung sehr negativ sieht.

    Der Unterschied ist, dass es die Vorherrschaft Europas über große Teile der Welt tatsächlich mal gegeben hat. Der Umstand, dass wir über die gesamte Zeit des Abstiegs von diesem Gipfel, inklusive des Übergangs der Suprematievorstellungen auf "den Westen", unseren Anspruch rechtfertigen und die anderen ihn in Frage stellen, zeigt die Asymmetrie. Konkurriende Ansprüche gibt es noch am meisten in unserer Phantasie.


    Ich hatte nochmal überlegt, dass Ferguson in der Skizzierung der Herausforderung nicht so zuversichtlich klingt, insbesondere dass er qua seiner eigenen Gesetzmäßigkeit den Abstieg des US empire vorhersagt - welcher Teil der Westens sollte diese Rolle erben? Nur dann ist mir wieder eingefallen, dass Ferguson zwar ein Apologet westlicher Suprematie ist, aber auch jemand der ihren Verlust ständig an die Wand malt (aus meiner Sicht zu recht) wegen einer Kultur der Selbstgeißelung und im Prinzip sowas wie dem Verlust des Willens zur Macht (aus meiner Sicht zu unrecht). Also doch ich würde trotz des Herr der Ringe-Gimmicks eher vom Wettkampf ausgehen, als dass er wirklich auf Gut gegen Böse hinaus will. War aber auch direkt mein Eindruck, als ich dann in den Artikel reingelesen habe.

    Ich kenne Fergusons Haltung, Aber dieser Artikel ist selbst für seine Verhältnisse völlig drüber.     Also ich glaube, Ferguson sieht es nicht als gut und böse, sondern als überlegen und unterlegen. Das macht ihn zu einem wirklichen Apologeten des Anrechts des Westens auf Vorherrschaft im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen die irgendeine Verkleidung bis hin zu die Guten versus die Bösen zur Legitimierung benötigen.


    In diesem Artikel versucht er sich mal wieder als Konservativenflüsterer. Er hat es halt mit diesen zunehmend spinnernden US-Rechten zu tun, denen man beibiegen muss, dass sie ihre Rolle als (vermeintlicher) Hegemon gefälligst ernst zu nehmen haben.

    Ach in seinem Kontext passt das schon. Ferguson ist ein Apologet westlicher Suprematie ("Civilization: The West and the Rest", 2011). Ich fand bloß den Tolkien-Verweis auf den ersten Blick etwas krude für das, was ich von ihm gewohnt bin, aber es ging ja eigentlich nur um den Aspekt der Allianz der "Bösen". Der Anreißer erweckt da einen falschen Eindruck.
