Zitat"We are screwed": 2nd House Republican joins Mike Johnson ouster effort
Conservative Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) is joining Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) in her efforts to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) after the Louisiana Republican announced plans to bring multiple foreign aid bills to the floor.
ZitatMassie told the room he feels Johnson should resign and asserted he would co-sponser the motion to vacate.
ZitatMassie's comments were met with boos from the majority of the conference, two members confirmed.
"It's a clusterf**k," one member said, adding "Johnson got a round of applause."
"We are screwed," another member told Axios.

ZitatDemocrats throw Johnson a lifeline on motion to vacate
Several House Democrats reiterated their opposition to ousting House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) after a second Republican signed onto a motion to remove him on Tuesday.
ZitatDriving the news: Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) told Axios his opposition to ousting Johnson "has not changed."
Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.) said he would also vote against a motion to vacate: "Yeah ... I wrote an op-ed piece about that."
Another House Democrat, asked if Democrats would save Johnson, told Axios: "Yes."
Spielverderber.

ZitatLeaked NYT Gaza Memo Tells Journalists to Avoid Words “Genocide,” “Ethnic Cleansing,” and “Occupied Territory”
Amid the internal battle over the New York Times’s coverage of Israel’s war, top editors handed down a set of directives.
Erstaunlich finde ich dann doch das hier:
ZitatThe memo also instructs reporters not to use the word Palestine “except in very rare cases” and to steer clear of the term “refugee camps” to describe areas of Gaza historically settled by displaced Palestinians expelled from other parts of Palestine during previous Israeli–Arab wars. The areas are recognized by the United Nations as refugee camps and house hundreds of thousands of registered refugees.
ZitatOn the term “Palestine” — a widely used name for both the territory and the U.N.-recognized state — the Times memo contains blunt instructions: “Do not use in datelines, routine text or headlines, except in very rare cases such as when the United Nations General Assembly elevated Palestine to a nonmember observer state, or references to historic Palestine.” The Times guidance resembles that of the Associated Press Stylebook.

"Trump promises a ‘deal’ on abortion that will please everyone. It likely doesn’t exist."
Das "lesser of two evils"-Argument ist damit natürlich verknüpft.

Gibt wohl Probleme bei The Intercept:

https://www.semafor.com/articl…pt-is-running-out-of-cash
ZitatAt the heart of the crisis is a nonprofit whose founding donor, Pierre Omidyar, decided in late 2022 to end his support for the organization. Now spun off from Omidyar’s First Look Media, The Intercept is losing roughly $300,000 a month, is on track to have a balance of less than a million dollars by November — and could be completely out of cash by May 2025, according to data shared internally in March.
ZitatIn March, Chabel announced to staff in an email that it had been approached by several unnamed employees who put forward a proposal for “a transfer of the intellectual property of The Intercept to a new entity.”
“We are engaging with it seriously,” Chabel wrote.
The email confused and alarmed staff, prompting Grim to respond with a clarification. He and co-founder Jeremy Scahill had suggested that the four-person board of directors resign, turning the operation over to the duo and remaining staff.
