    Also Delcy Rodriguez ist aber nicht durch irgendeine Kabale Interims-Präsidentin geworden, sondern weil sie Vizepräsidentin war, und deshalb nach venezolanischem Recht automatisch nachgerückt ist - so wie in den USA auch DJ Wanz zum Präsidenten würde, sollte Trump von den Chinesen entführt werden, oder an einem Cheeseburger ersticken.

    Die hat sich ja auch nicht selbst ermächtigt, sondern wurde vom obersten Gerichtshof damit beauftragt, eine neue Regierung zu bilden, bis Neuwahlen stattfinden.

    Mittlerweile hat sich auch die Armeeführung hinter sie gestellt und der Verteidigungsminister hat die Bevölkerung zum Widerstand gegen die USA aufgefordert.


    In dem Wa-Po Artikel wird auch erwähnt, dass die Amerikaner 32 Kubanische Soldaten abgeknallt haben, die wohl für die Bewachung Maduros zuständig waren. In einem anderen Artikel über den Einsatz wird auch beschrieben wie viel Menschen und Material an der ganzen Aktion beteiligt waren Das war eine ziemlich aufwändige, und sicher nicht billige Angelegenheit, in die sämtliche Teilstreitkräfte involviert waren.

    Die CIA hatte natürlich auch Kontakte im Apparat, die ihnen Informationen über Maduros Tagesablauf und Details über seine Residenz zugespielt haben, anhand derer die Delta Force das ganze dann Monate lang in einem Nachbau geübt haben soll. Der Plan sei auch schon Anfang Dezember ausführbar gewesen, aber sie mussten warten bis das Wetter für den massiven Helikoptereinsatz passte.

Also sehe ich nicht so ganz, was Rodriguez und der Rest des Regimes jetzt großartig anders machen sollen - vor allem wenn die Amerikaner weiter ihre Seeblockade aufrecht erhalten, so wie Trump es erklärt hat.     Ich finde das auch unplausibel das fette und langsame Chinok-Transporter da rumfliegen, während das Militär lange von dem Szenario wusste (in Kuba trainiert man aktuell die Luftabwehr).



    Sorry, Schilli aber Chay Bowes ist definitiv keine seriöse Quelle, auch wenn er behauptet "reliable sources" hätten ihm erzählt, dass das venezolanische Militär seine 4.000 tragbaren Flugabwehrsysteme schön im Schrank gelassen hätte, während die Amerikaner seine Militärstützpunkte bombardierten.

    Der ganze Vortrag des amerikanischen UN-Botschafters Waltz liest sich wie eine etwas eleganter formulierte Rede seines größenwahnsinnigen Commader in Chief. Natürlich wirft er Maduro auch vor, Chef eines angeblichen Drogenkartells zu sein, das "narcoterrorism" in den Vereinigten Staaten beauftragt habe, aber mir erscheint es fraglich, ob er der Anklageseite im kommenden Prozess gegen Maduro einen Gefallen damit tut, wenn er hier nochmal den stillen Teil - nämlich den Umstand, dass die USA die Kontrolle über die riesigen Venezolanische Erdölvorkommen lieber in den Händen einer US-freundlichen Regierung sähen - laut vor der gesamten Weltöffentlichkeit ausposaunt, und damit ein Hauptmotiv für die gewaltsame Verschleppung des Autokraten ausplaudert, das überhaupt nichts mit der gegen ihn erhobenen Anklage zu tun hat, wegen derer man Maduro und seine Frau in einer vom US-Militär lediglich "ermöglichten" ("facilitated") "law enforcement"-Aktion festgenommen haben will.

    Darunter scheint es jedenfalls eher wenige zu geben, die das ganze für besonders "komplex" halten, so wie unsere #wertebasierte Bundesregierung. Man ist halt entweder für die Einhaltung des Völkerrechts, oder man ist politisch rechts und pro-Amerikanisch. Dazwischen gibt's jetzt nicht unbedingt viele besonders fein abgestufte Grautöne.


    Der Vetreter Venezuelas macht auch nicht den Eindruck, als stehe seine Regierung unter Kontrolle des Trump-Regimes.

    Das hier ist auch ganz lustig, weil UN-Botschafter Waltz gestern einen guten Teil seines trumpistischen Vortrages diesem ominösen "Cartel de los Soles" gewidmet hat, dessen Boss Maduro gewesen sei:

But the 2020 indictment, which laid out a lengthy narrative about a yearslong conspiracy, portrayed Cartel de los Soles as a drug trafficking organization, led by Mr. Maduro.     While the experts in Latin American crime and narcotics issues praised the corrective about Cartel de los Soles, some also criticized other aspects of the revised indictment. For example, the indictment added as a defendant — and a supposed co-conspirator with Mr. Maduro — the head of a Venezuelan prison gang called Tren de Aragua. The connection described in the indictment is thin: It says only that the gang leader, in phone calls in 2019 with someone he thought was a Venezuelan official, offered escort services to protect drug shipments passing through Venezuela. Last year, Mr. Trump declared that Mr. Maduro was directing the activities of Tren de Aragua, even though the U.S. intelligence community believes the opposite is true. [...]
