ZitatDanish pension fund to divest its U.S. Treasuries
ZitatAkademikerPension said the decision was not intended as a political statement linked to the rift between Denmark and the United States over Greenland.
Ergibt Sinn.

ZitatSwedish pension fund Alecta cuts US Treasury holdings, citing policy uncertainty
STOCKHOLM, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Swedish pension fund Alecta has sold most of its holdings in U.S. Treasuries over the last year because of the increased risk and unpredictability of U.S. politics, the fund's chief investment officer said on Wednesday.
"Since the beginning of 2025, we have reduced our holdings in U.S. government bonds in several rounds, and together the reductions account for the majority of our holdings," Alecta's Chief Investment Officer Pablo Bernengo said in a statement to Reuters.

ZitatDollar has become a 'falling chainsaw' - what it means for you
There is no end in sight to a plunge in the value of the US dollar, threatening ramifications globally but especially for Donald Trump if it's overdone.

ZitatAmundi CEO says clients want safety from dollar as results top forecasts
PARIS, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Europe's largest asset manager, Amundi (AMUN.PA), on Tuesday reported higher-than-expected net inflows in the fourth quarter, and the CEO said clients were seeking diversification in Europe and away from the U.S. dollar.
ZitatIn a call with reporters, CEO Valerie Baudson said geopolitical uncertainty has driven investors to diversify their portfolios across styles, sectors and regions.
Baudson noted that the significant decline in the dollar had influenced investment decisions regarding American assets, with clients initially turning to gold for diversification.
"We've begun to see a whole series of investments in Europe that were truly diversification investments or investments designed to reduce sensitivity to the dollar and U.S. assets," she said.

ZitatChina Urges Banks to Curb Exposure to US Treasuries
Chinese regulators have advised financial institutions to rein in their holdings of US Treasuries, citing concerns over concentration risks and market volatility, according to people familiar with the matter.
Officials urged banks to limit purchases of US government bonds and instructed those with high exposure to pare down their positions, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private deliberations. The directive doesn’t apply to China’s state holdings of US Treasuries.

ZitatSilver Rises 7% As Analysts Predict Precious Metals Prices Could Surge Again
France’s central bank has sold off the last of the gold it held in the United States Federal Reserve and replaced it with higher quality bars in Paris, taking advantage of rising prices to make nearly €13 billion as it upgrades its holdings.
Alles anzeigen[...] The BdF has been gradually replacing older, non‑standard gold with bars that meet modern international standards since 2005. It moved the majority of its gold reserves out of the US Federal Reserve and the Bank of England between 1963 and 1966.
Rather than refining and transporting the gold that remained in the US, the bank opted to sell it and purchase new, compliant bullion on the European market.
Through 26 transactions, the BdF made a significant profit, capitalising on record-high gold prices during the period.
France’s total gold reserves of about 2,437 tonnes – the fourth-largest in the world – are now all in Paris. This includes 134 tonnes of older bars and coins, which the bank intends to bring up to standard by 2028.
In Germany, which holds the world's second-largest gold reserves, some economists have called on the government to withdraw its gold from the US, citing concerns about "unpredictable" policies under President Donald Trump.
The Bundesbank, Germany's federal bank, holds about 1,236 tonnes of gold in the US, or about 37 percent of its total.
"Trump is unpredictable and he does everything to generate revenue. That’s why our gold is no longer safe in the Fed’s vaults," said Michael Jäger, head of both the Association of German Taxpayers and the European Taxpayers Association.
BdF governor Francois Villeroy de Galhau insisted that the decision to move France’s gold out of the US was not politically motivated. [...]

ZitatINTERVIEW: Mercuria shipping head says fuel shortages could idle 10% of global fleet
The shipping sector is fast approaching a fuel crisis that could paralyze a tenth of the global fleet, Larry Johnson, global head of freight at commodities trading house Mercuria, said in an interview.
Zitat"My view on marine fuel oil is there will be regional stock-outs by July and that there are potentially outages in the major hubs by August, September, at the latest," Johnson said.
Unlike other sectors, the shipping industry lacks a buffer of state reserves to manage emergency crises. A steeply backwardated market structure has encouraged suppliers to offer stocks rather than forfeit hefty premiums for prompt supply, triggering steep draws on private inventories.
Zitat"For marine fuel oil, there's no buffer. There's nothing. So once you're out, you're out. And then ships will have to try to buy diesel fuel, for example," Johnson said.
The sector would then be forced to compete with other end-markets for limited gasoil supplies, which already command a premium to conventional fuel oil.
ZitatShould trade disruptions last another month, Johnson says mass fuel shortages could trigger trade congestion on the scale of the Covid-19 pandemic – shutting down as much as 10% of marine traffic.

ZitatJapan's FX messaging keeps markets on edge over yen intervention risk
TOKYO, June 22 (Reuters) - Japanese financial authorities kept markets guessing about possible currency intervention on Monday, with the lack of clear signals suggesting a potential shift in communication tactics.

Declines on Wall Street reverberate across global markets as SpaceX rally reverses
Alles anzeigenGlobal stocks fell on Tuesday, led by a retreat in Big Tech, as fears of higher US interest rates and a plunge in SpaceX shares soured sentiment towards a sector that has powered markets to records this year.
South Korea’s tech-heavy Kospi index tumbled 10 per cent, with chipmaker SK Hynix and memory chip group Samsung Electronics recording double-digit drops, as declines on Wall Street reverberated across Asian markets.
In Europe, the benchmark Stoxx 600 index fell 0.8 per cent in early trading, with ASML, the chipmaker and the region’s biggest company by market value, down 4 per cent.
The overnight drops in the US add to a bruising month for Big Tech, which has propelled markets higher this year but faces increasing investor concern over whether valuations have become too stretched. [...]
SpaceX was the most spectacular casualty on Monday, with shares in Elon Musk’s satellite, rocket and AI company closing down 16 per cent at $154.60 and wiping $400bn from its market value.
The hit to SpaceX’s value ranks as the second-biggest one-day loss suffered by any company, according to FT analysis of Bloomberg data, eclipsed only by a drop in Nvidia shares in early 2025.
SpaceX closed with a market capitalisation of $2.03tn, down from an intraday peak of almost $3tn on June 16.
Shares in SpaceX were down 2.5 per cent in pre-market trading on Tuesday.
Despite Monday’s drop, the shares remain above the $135 they were sold at in the company’s record-breaking initial public offering this month.
The prospect that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates to keep US inflation in check has deepened concerns over valuations, as bigger returns on “risk-free” US government debt reduce the appeal of owning highly valued equities.
SpaceX shares trade at more than 100 times the revenue the company generated last year.
