In Nagasaki findet wieder die Gedenkveranstaltung für den zweiten US-Kernwaffeneinsatz am 9. August 1945 statt. Die diplomatische Vertretung von Israel war nicht eingeladen worden. Das hat die Missbilligung der G7 minus Japan geweckt. Da der Bürgermeister nicht davon abgerückt ist, schicken unter anderem wir deshalb keinen Vertreter zu der Veranstaltung.

Na die werden das so sehen, dass die Hamas zuletzt angeboten hatte, die Geiseln für einen Waffenstillstand frei zu lassen, aber die israelische Führung das abgelehnt hat. Aus deren Sicht ist das wahrscheinlich ein klarer Aufruf an die Israelis, jetzt endlich zu verhandeln und vermutlich sehen sie eine Chance das jetzt zu machen, während Biden geschwächt ist, und Harris noch nicht im Amt.

Vieleicht auch ein Versuch, die Iraner zu besänftigen, denn wenn die richitg los legen, wird sich Qatar mit seinen engen Verbindungen nach Teheran schwer raushalten können.

Kleines Trivia: Die militärische Lage in Gasa wird von manchen mit Stalingrad verglichen, wegen der großflächigen Bombardierung, die ein riesiges Trümmerfeld geschaffen hat, das anschließend von den Verteidigern ausgenutzt wird. In Stalingrad nannte man den Kampf in diesem Umfeld auch "Rattenkrieg".
