It's actually surprising that Trump just admitted this out loud because from a geopolitical standpoint it's the biggest failure imaginable for the U.S. For a country that's always been all about "divide and conquer", this is what generations of U.S. strategic planners have been having nightmares about.

Zbigniew Brzezinski, the former National Security Advisor, wrote in his book "The Grand Chessboard" that "the most dangerous scenario would be a grand coalition of China, Russia, and perhaps Iran, an 'antihegemonic' coalition united not by ideology but by complementary grievances." The guy didn't even think of adding India to the mix because of how presumably unthinkable it was (and also because at the time it wasn't the world's 3rd biggest economy).

Same thing for Kissinger whose entire lifework was to ensure that in any three-way power dynamic, America must never allow itself to become the odd man out. And we're now in a four-way power dynamic where the US is the odd one out versus the world's 1st, 3rd and 4th largest economies by PPP.

Now, you can certainly criticize "divide and conquer" as a geopolitical game (and I personally think it's highly worthy of criticism) but there's no arguing that's the game the U.S. plays and at that game, as per Trump's admission, they seem to have "lost".

Ich fürchte ja, da freut sich Monsieur Bertrand etwas zu früh - jedenfalls wird das vermutlich nicht bedeuten, dass die USA jetzt ihren bisherigen geostrategischen Plan komplett aufgeben. Aber bemerkenswert ist es schon, dass ein amerikanischer Präsident - und dann auch noch ein so wahnhaft narzisstischer wie der goldene Kaiser - das so offen ausspricht.

Nachdem der #Werteverräter Fico dem russischen Unterautokraten neulich bei der pompösen Militärparade des Oberautokraten in Peking unterwürfig die Hand schüttelte, während unsere Euro-Ursel unter Einsatz ihres Lebens trotz russischem hybrid-Beschuss furchtlos die EU-Ostfront von Finnland bis Bulgarien(?) befestigte, und europäische Stärke zeigte, sollte man meinen, dass Selenskyj mit dem slowakischen Regierungsführer nichts mehr zu tun haben will, zumal seine Streitkräfte in den letzten Wochen gleich dreimal die Druschba-Pipleine angegriffen und zum Stillstand gebracht haben, durch die Erdöl aus Russland in die Slowakei und Ungarn transportiert wird, und damit lauten Protest aus beiden Ländern auslösten.

Tatsächlich ist der ukrainische Volkspräsident aber gestern eigens nach Uschhorod, kurz vor der westlichen Grenze der Ukraine mit Ungarn und der Slowakei gefahren, um sich mit Fico zu treffen und sich von bewegten Kameras beim Händeschütteln, sich gegenseitig anfassen, und ernste Gespräche vor wehenden Fahnen miteinander führen abfilmen zu lassen.

Allerdings erscheint die Begeisterung von Herrn Ragozin hier etwas übertrieben, denn dabei raus kam zunächst auch nur das übliche Gerede: "sustantive discussion...", "I informed about our coversation...", "advance peace and ensure security..." :

...ohne dass dabei irgendwas konkretes gesagt - oder zumindest öffentlich mitgeteilt - wurde, das irgendeine realistische Aussicht auf ein Ende des Krieges eröffnet hätte.

Stattdessen betont Selenskyj, dass russisches Öl in Europa "keine Zukunft" habe - was man eigentlich nur so verstehen kann, dass er seinen Militärs auch weiterhin erlauben wird, die Druschba-Pipeline anzugreifen, und so die Slowakei auch im Herbst und Winter von der Ölversorgung abzuschneiden.

"The transportation of oil and gas through Russian territory is the responsibility of the Russian side. Not only Slovakia, but also other countries, in particular Hungary, have expressed their concerns in this regard," Tykhyi added.

Unterdessen bekommt es der russische Autokrat angesichts der enormen Stärke, die ihm Europa in den letzten Tagen gezeigt hat, allmählich mit der Angst zu tun.

Hier versucht sein betrunkener Hofnarr Medwedew verzweifelt den Eindruck zu erwecken, man mache sich im Kreml über die "Koalition der Willigen" und ihre "Sicherheitsgarantien" lustig, doch die lässt sich damit sicher nicht ins Bockshorn jagen!

Das muss dringend geändert werden – nicht nur für neu ankommende Ukrainer.

Sie sind also klar gegen mögliche Einsätze deutscher Soldaten in der Ukraine?

Söder: Es ist für mich kaum vorstellbar, dass NATO-Truppen dort stationiert sind. Das würde Russland keinesfalls akzeptieren. Denn es wäre die Vorstufe des Beitritts der Ukraine in die NATO. Außerdem ist die Bundeswehr dafür nicht bereit. Sie ist auf Kante genäht, finanziell und personell. Deswegen braucht es wieder die Wehrpflicht. Daran wird letztlich kein Weg vorbeiführen. [...]

An anonymous Telegram account had promised them one million rubles, around $12,500, to do so — a surreal amount of money for the boys.

[...] Since the Russian invasion, the security services of both countries have discovered a cheap and accessible asset: youngsters who can be recruited for one-off covert attacks, often without even knowing whom they are working for. It’s a shocking development in this brutal war — the weaponizing of children.

Stories about cross-border surveillance and sabotage have been circulating for a couple of years. But the phenomenon, as stalemate deepens and both countries look for new ways to strike inside enemy territory, has clearly picked up. To learn more about it, I read through the message histories of recruited children with their handlers, spoke with handlers and listened to a recording of one of them providing a recruit with a recipe for explosives. Over months, I reviewed hundreds of cases in both countries. It was a crash course in deception and disaster.

This is how it works. First, an anonymous user contacts kids over Telegram, WhatsApp or a video game chat with an offer of a quick buck. Once contact is made, handlers provide instructions. Sometimes these directives are disguised as a geolocation game. “Yes, we pay for photos here!” says one online ad posted by recruiters, asking for location-stamped pictures of police cars and ambulances. “It’s like Pokémon Go, but for money.” The methods can be darker than deceit. A 14-year-old Ukrainian schoolgirl was harassed by her Russian recruiters: They gained access to her intimate photos, then threatened to post them online unless she became a saboteur. Similar blackmail has reportedly been used against schoolkids from the Russian town of Myski. After hacking boys’ social media accounts and finding compromising material, Ukrainian handlers forced them to spray toxic substances at their school. This recruitment technique ensures a network of saboteurs on the cheap. On the Russian side, the results are striking. One Ukrainian teenager, taught by the Russian military intelligence service how to use encrypted communications and a timed fuse, carried out an arson attack at an Ikea store in Lithuania. Teenage boys were manipulated to spray hateful antisemitic slogans across Ukraine. Two 14-year-olds detonated a bomb near a police station north of Kyiv. A trio of teenage boys blew up a pickup truck in Mykolaiv.

Even when the sabotage doesn’t succeed, it’s scary. A sixth grader from Ternopil, in western Ukraine, was offered money to set fire to critical infrastructure; he reported the approach to the police. A Zhytomyr schoolboy followed his handler’s instructions to build a homemade explosive but was apprehended before he could use it. Behind all these acts, successful and not, were Russian agents.

Ukraine’s efforts are no less shocking. Fliers with Ukrainian recruiters’ personal QR codes can reportedly be found in the toilets of small-town Russian schools. At those recruiters’ urging, anything can be torched. A police car in St. Petersburg, a veterans’ headquarters in Stavropol, a railway in Irkutsk. A 16-year-old fruitlessly tried to set fire to a bomber at a military airfield near Chelyabinsk. Two boys from Omsk succeeded where he couldn’t and set aflame a helicopter using a Molotov cocktail. Less well-resourced kids resort to cigarettes and gasoline from their scooters instead of explosives. They don’t tend to get away with it. The numbers are small but significant: Since the spring of 2024, the Ukrainian security service has arrested around 175 minors implicated in espionage, arson and bomb plots orchestrated by Russian intelligence agents. The youngest among them is 12 years old. Russia does not disclose such information, but human rights activists I interviewed say there are at least 100 equivalent cases. According to Igor Volchkov, a lawyer specializing in family law, the children’s block in one of Moscow’s main pretrial detention centers has grown from 20 to 100 teenagers during the war, swelling with kids suspected of pro-Ukrainian sabotage. Was für ein Schreck. Zunächst dachte ich, wenn jetzt schon 79-Jährige Ex-Friedensbewegte Popstars an die Front müssen, dann muss der Russe ja wirklich kurz vor Lichtenberg stehen, doch dann verstand ich, dass mit "Taten" natürlich nur das übliche bräsige, großmäulige und saudumme Geschwätz eines verkalkten privilegierten Millionärs über mehr Aufrüstung, mehr Krieg, und mehr arme junge Leute in die Schützengraben gemeint war. Puh... Das ist ja gerade nochmal gut gegangen!

Immerhin hat SelenskyJs Videoabteilung die Einschlagstelle schön hell ausgeleuchtet und Wolo noch ein kaputtes Auto in den Hintergrund platziert, damit auch wirklich jeder Depp sieht, dass da Krieg ist.

Ob so viel gezeigter Stärke hat der Russe sich dermaßen erschrocken, dass er gestern Nacht in heller Panik spontan noch ein paar weitere Drohnen und Raketen auf ukrainische Energieanlagen fallen ließ. Wenn er denkt, dass wir jetzt damit aufhören Stärke zu zeigen, dann täuscht er sich aber gewaltig, denn das macht Unsere Entschlossenheit nur noch stärker!
